Unlike standard steel-string acoustics, the Gretsch G9230 Bobtail Square-Neck Resonator Guitar features a flat neck, which means the action of the relatively thick D’Addario EJ42 .016 - .056 strings is high enough to play this guitar like a lap-steel - in other words: in open tuning with a slide. The aluminium cone packs defined trebles and ample projection, while the mahogany body adds that bit of warmth that metal-bodied resonators lack, and the Fishman Nashville Pickup (without preamp) opens up the option of hooking up an amp.

Retro Style

Resonator guitars are naturally linked to traditional blues music as well as bluegrass, the latter of which is rooted in the American '20s and '30s of the 20th century. Since the design of the Gretsch G9230 is a nod to that era, it encompasses a stunning, all-pearloid 1930s Gretsch 3x3 Headstock, a vintage semi-gloss coat of paint and traditional F-holes and resonator cone detailing.
